Re: Where can I get the materials for under $200 aud

I used Tar paper for on top of the plywood surface, then used masonite or something simmaler. Ten i used water sealer (that was made for a deck) on all the 2by4s, sides, and plat forms. i think the masonite should last about a year so just replace it when you need to.

Re: Plywood and Lumber Question? Ask an expert.

Hey Royal,

First post here. I'm researching alternative surfaces for my mini 1/2 that I'm building. I've read online about HDO plywood. Would this be a good alternative to use as a riding surface instead of masonite for outdoor use? The only other thing ...

Re: Plywood and Lumber Question? Ask an expert.

... exterior wall siding.
It can take the rain and not swell, but it will hold the moisture and is slow to dry.

Never heard it being used as a riding surface. Even though the texture may have grip. It is NOT very durable to abuse. When contractors nail it up to a house they have to be very careful ...

Re: Plywood and Lumber Question? Ask an expert.

Hey Royal - I was looking around Lowes last night and came across Hardipanel. Would this be a viable option for a surface layer? I've searched around the web and there's not much info on using it for a ramp. But it seems to be sturdy and it bends very well. I think my main concern ...

Halfpipe Surafcing?

Thinking of building a half pipe 3 1/2ft high and 8ft wide but it's looking expensive to buy ply in the UK.

Just wondering if it would be okay to use MDF to surface it? I was thinking two sheets.. one 3/4 inch, one 3/8 inch. I would still make the transitions out of ply.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Mini Ramp (Custom) Indoors? Please Reply

Hey Nick,
They are saying the riding surface will not hold up long if you leave it outside to get rained on or just with the morning dew.
Covering it with a plasitc tarp will help, but with anything wood outdoors not sealed or painted it will not last.

Re: Plywood

Hey Steve,
I'm a supplier for the ramp builders in Southern California.
Pressure treated plywood is great for your substrate(under surface), but not your riding surface. That chemical is toxic and you do not want to get spliters from it. If you are using some kind of regular plywood on ...

Vinyl Tile for the surface

I am helping a neighbor build a pipe for his kid.
It seems to me that what you want in a surface is something pretty hard but bendable, impermeable to water, smooth as can be, and easy to repair if dinged.
Has anyone tried self-adhesive vinyl tiles? They are often used ...
