Re: Plywood and Lumber Question? Ask an expert.

Hey Royal,

First post here. I'm researching alternative surfaces for my mini 1/2 that I'm building. I've read online about HDO plywood. Would this be a good alternative to use as a riding surface instead of masonite for outdoor use? The only other thing I could ...

Re: 4' mini ramp

Hey Shellskater, for what its worth I'd go with 12 feet.

My mini halfpipe plans use an 8 foot flat bottom because thats how Id seen it done ... time and price. But I agree it can feel a bit short, especially for a 4' tall halfpipe.

If you build a 4 foot extension and think its too long, ...

Hello, I'm building a 4' tall 1/2 pipe and I am trying to find out a good length of the bottom flat section? We made it 8' but it seems a little too short. We are going to take it apart and lengthen it up, I'm just wondering if we should ...

skeleton of half-pipe?

I'm a poor college student and am want to build a mini half pipe as cheap as possible lol.
I have to make it an outdoor pipe so its going to be treated wood and the 2X4's are about $1.70 cheaper than the 2X6.
can i use 2X4's for framing instead of 2X6's or with that make it too weak?

Re: Mini Ramp (Custom) Indoors? Please Reply

Hey Nick,
They are saying the riding surface will not hold up long if you leave it outside to get rained on or just with the morning dew.
Covering it with a plasitc tarp will help, but with anything wood outdoors not sealed or painted it will not last.
