3. the radius for the plans is 6'10", so the string needs to be that length.

... I would recommend getting some graph paper and drawing out curves down to scale. Why dont you want to use a steeper transition (transition length = height or ramp)?

... either of those heights. I'd recommend getting some graph paper and a compass, then scale down your ramp to the paper to see what each transition length would look like.

So I set out to build a half pipe for my son. I got the materials list. I went to construction demo sites and asked if I could recycle used full length pieces of 2x4's, 2x6's and 4x4's, I even came across a few sheets of plywood and two old sturdy home made bookshelfs that were made out of 3/4 ...
