MDF vs Masonite

Hi, I am planning on building a mini ramp custom but i am having trouble finding Masonite here in Costa Rica. The closest thing to Masonite that I could find is called MDF. Does anybody have any experience with this material? it looks very smooth but I don't want ...

3 4' x 4' sheet of 3/4" plywood
6 4' x 4' sheet of 3/8" plywood
6 4' x 4' sheet of 1/4" Masonite
2 4 feet long 1.5" diameter metal pipe

you can probably get Masonite at any hardware store that sells plywood/2x4s or any lumber yard

... it would be hard to get a smooth transition from ramp to ground if i did the option of having 2 quarter pipes with my surface plywood/masonite lying on the ground?

sorry i dont really understand what your trying to say with the garage door idea you said but even if i rotated the quarterpipes ...

I agree with bmxrox, two layers of plywood, then a layer of masonite is definitely the best way to go, and if you have the funds then you should go that route. thats what i did and it works great

ok, here goes...
1. the masonite is the final layer. it is not there for strength, but it is smooth and provides a good riding surface. it is your choice if you want to use one or two layers of plywood underneath the masonite. i am a ...

Best way to tarp a mini-ramp

Hi,

I followed the plans for the "Mini Halfpipe"
Thanks for making such a great site man!

Anyway, I covered the mini with masonite and use a tarp to cover it.
I made the mistake to let the tarp lay right over the ramp the first time it rained on it.
The water pooled and ruined ...

yeah, if you go to home depot, and you call it Masonite, they wont know what you are talking about. I went there and ended up just buying some really smooth plywood
