Halfpipe Surafcing?

Postby kroft on Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:45 am

Thinking of building a half pipe 3 1/2ft high and 8ft wide but it's looking expensive to buy ply in the UK.

Just wondering if it would be okay to use MDF to surface it? I was thinking two sheets.. one 3/4 inch, one 3/8 inch. I would still make the transitions out of ply.

Any help is appreciated!

MDF is not a great choice. It will smell and break apart with any moisture.
Better to use just a top layer of Tempered Hardboard 1/4". May have to replace every 6month to a year but it's cheap.
